EASD European Society for the Study of Diabetes Back
University accreditation does not apply to courses from this institution
The mission of EASD is to promote excellence in diabetes care through research and education. The aims of the Association are to encourage and support research in the field of diabetes, the rapid diffusion of acquired knowledge and to facilitate its application.
The EASD Post Graduate Education committee (PGEC) is active in organising workshops and courses for clinicians and educators.
PGEC courses aim to give support to local clinical courses dealing with all aspects concerning the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and its complications. The format is a two to three day course consisting of lectures and workshops aimed not only at teaching the participants how to treat diabetic patients according to the guidelines of best clinical practice, but also at enabling the participants to take part in continuous education. The target audience is committed diabetologists in training together with junior consultants and diabetes paramedical staff, particularly diabetes educators.
As the constitution of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) states, the Association is committed not only to strengthening diabetes research, but also to facilitating the application of patient care. The EASD has a long history of organising innovative clinical postgraduate courses all over the European region.
Working closely together with ADA and IDF it was decided to organise joint extra-European courses starting in April 2005. An internationally-distinguished faculty of clinicians working in diabetes and its complications from Europe, North America and elsewhere, meet in a selected city. Local experts are included on the faculty and workshops are run by one of the international faculty together with a local specialists.
