Description
Our past
For more than 130 years, we’ve been home to great minds with a determined and unwavering ambition to improve our world through teaching, learning and research.
Our roots took hold in 1878, when St Katherine’s College first opened its doors in Tottenham. Seven additional colleges and training institutions across north London followed, coming together to form Middlesex Polytechnic in 1973.
Nearly two decades later, Middlesex Polytechnic was granted university status by royal assent to become the world-class institution it’s known as today – with campuses in Dubai, Malta and Mauritius and trusted academic partnerships stretching across the globe.
Our present
Our ambition
It’s our ambition to create a positive change by making a lasting impression on society, business and the wider world around us.
Our focus
Our focus is academic excellence through peerless teaching, learning and research. We embrace innovation, creative and practical thinking, investing in our students, staff and the facilities they need to make a dramatic impact on teaching and research.
Our reputation
As part of our drive to reinforce our reputation for academic rigour, we’ve recruited three new deans, 50 professors and readers and more than 100 senior academics. All are outstanding thinkers, researchers and, crucially, teachers – and each one shares our passion to make Middlesex University a world-class centre for higher education.
We’ve already invested £200 million in lecture theatres, laboratories and studies to complement our 24/7 library.
Our 24/7 library has more than 1,000 study areas and more than 600 computer spaces.
