Description

University of Primorska strives to become a centre of excellence in knowledge formation and transmission, it aims for equal and partner cooperation in enriching academic and social sphere of the Mediterranean and beyond. To fulfill its purpose, the University of Primorska must attempt to support its credibility and autonomy with appropriate strategic goals, which will enable a long-term inclusive development policy. For that reason, a new mid-term plan is in preparation and is expected to be adopted by the Senate of UP by the end of 2008. The new mid-term plan for the following 5 years will present a joint responsibility, characterized by seven major objectives and a proper methodology. The University is making every effort to become a centre of excellence in knowledge formation and transmission. It aspires to creatively contribute to advances of knowledge-based society. This aspiration is founded on the following values:

• autonomy

• openness

These values carry the strategic goals for the future:

• to become a constitutive part of the national structure of knowledge with excellence in learning and teaching
• to become a referential university for the Mediterranean geographical area and South Eastern Europe
• to establish an effective model of asymmetrically integrated university
• to become an excellent research institution
• to become a recognized factor in local development
• to become a recognized university in Slovenia, the Mediterranean and broader environment
• to achieve the material standards, comparable to University of Ljubljana and to University of Maribor.
